Day 2 - Rapid to Denver

Okay, I'm SUPER tired right now. It's 1:30am and I'm just getting around to today's blog post. It was a jam packed day of sight seeing! We crammed in what would take an average family a week to visit in to about 5 hours! Crazy! So after my run this morning it was time to depart Rapid City. We set off for Mt. Rushmore. There we took some amazing photos of the monument and some silly ones, as you can see. What can I say, I'm growing older but not up!

Then it was on to Crazy Horse to get some pics of this monument in progress. It was pretty impressive. Just to give you an idea of the scale of this thing... the horse's head that you see chalked out below... they say you will be able to fit a single wide trailer in the horses nostril. Insane!

After Crazy Horse was Needles Hwy. This is one of the most fun roads to drive around. We had a ton of fun with the hair pin and razorback curves and got some cool pics up in the Black Hills.

Here is one of the single lane tunnels that goes through the rock on Needles Hwy.

We saw a ton of deer just wandering around today. It was amazing that they weren't scared of people.

Below is the city of Deadwood. We decided to have a little fun and try to recreate a duel from back in the day. Brandon is a little bit better / faster than me apparently.

And on the way through Wyoming we got some great pics of the sunset. Absolutely beautiful!

So tomorrow we leave from Denver and try to make it to Salt Lake City. We have a few stops along the way including Steamboat Springs and Dinosaur Park. Should be interesting.
